Spring has truly sprung here at Yours headquarters. The sun is shining, the air is crisp and there are daffodils being sold at the shop down the road. What to wear to a Spring wedding

We’re coming up to that magical time of year – wedding season. It’s an incredibly exciting time for the happy couple but a nightmare for guests who really don’t know what to wear. Traditionally, guests are meant to avoid wearing black (it indicates you disapprove of the nuptials) and obviously avoid white and off-white shades like cream, ecru etc as it may be seen as you trying to upstage the bride.

Also, some people suggest avoiding wearing red as they think it mocks the bride’s honour and says that you dispute the bride’s right to wear white! However, in this day and age, this is a pretty old idea but to be on the safe side, if you know the bride you should probably try and discuss your outfit. After all, she’ll probably be pleased that you want to look nice in her wedding photos.

So here are my top picks for guests who are racking their brains about what to wear to spring weddings.

This magenta mesh dress is a fantastic find for wedding guests. Nicola Roberts, the stunning redhead of the music act Girls Aloud has hit out against the media criticism she has faced regarding her slim figure.

The pint sized pop star claims to have never been a gym bunny, but Roberts doesn’t seem to give credit to the energetic dance routines performed on Girls Aloud tours over the last eight years.

Claiming “It’s irresponsible for people to obsess over it [her weight] because I don’t want girls to feel they have to be the same shape”, we couldn’t agree more.

There is a strange preoccupation amongst women to be the perfect size, but we are yet to live in a society where healthy should be seen as ‘perfect’.

I’ll admit that I love to shop. I love picking up a bargain that is * just * what I’m looking for – the right colours, styles and fabrics for the right price. This is why I love working at Yours Clothing, every day I can look over the products we sell and secretly add them to my must-have list in my head!

Yours Clothing is different from every other retailer as the design of the clothes we sell are perfect for curvaceous girlies, or a ‘Buxom Babe’!!

With the weather as unpredictable as it is, tunics are a great way of creating layers to keep warm or staying decent stripping off if you get a tad warm in the office. They typically are cut longer than a normal top and shorter than a dress. This means hips are definitely covered and possibly bottoms too if you'd rather show off the shape of your pins.

Curvy girls in the News

We saw an article in the news this week that should have all curvaceous girlies cheering. V Magazine have dedicated an entire issue to female models who are bigger than a size 0 – and the look flippin’ gorgeous! The issue in question comes out on 14th January but we feel it’s come too late, after all, we’ve been saying how lovely larger ladies are for years now!

Yours Clothing began because we knew other shopping outlets weren’t catering to the needs of women who wear clothes between a 14 and 32. The cuts were all wrong and styles were regularly less than flattering. We have always known that plus size girls are the sexiest out there and we know how to dress you at the right price.

We’ve got loads of fantastic new stock in at the moment and we need to clear out our warehouse so we can get more great clothes in - just like this print dress. Prints are THE thing to be wearing this spring so get ahead of the trend and pop this colourful item in your shopping basket. For the colder days we’re having at the moment, wear thick black tights, heels and a long black cardi with chunky jewellery. Grab a thick gold-coloured bangle to stand out. New Year, new job? Brrr! It’s getting very chilly out there! These past few weeks snow has caused a few of us problems in getting to the office but that is no reason to be cold playing in the snow! And there is more on the way.

At Yours Clothing, we’ve had an early spring clean of our website to make it even easier for you to navigate.

So what’s changed?

Rather than listing the categories on the left hand side, we’re letting you choose how you shop – by category, outfit, size, colour or type of special offer.

By adding all this choice, you would think the website would be hard to navigate – but it isn’t! The drop down menus at the top make everything more clearly set out

If you are looking for a spangly top to wear with a smart pair of black trousers, simply click on the drop down menu and select ‘Tops’. If you aren’t really sure what look you would like to rock this weekend, choose ‘Ways to shop’ and shop by outfit. From there, pick out the bits of the outfit you like and either add to basket or add to wishlist.

Alternatively, you could shop by colour. Are you just looking for an item to go with stuff you already own? No problem, you can now shop by colour. Using the drop down menu, I decided to shop by colour and chose 'gold'. I clicked on 'tops' and came up with these Gold Tops.

If you’re looking to get a little more for your money, you can now shop by multibuy! Two for £10 doesn’t mean you have to pick the same top in two different colours, you can choose from a selection of t-shirts, knickers and leggings to help you complete your outfit for less. Girls who love snuggling up in nighties could pick two out for just £12.

Stay on Trend this Winter at Yours

Buying clothes around Christmas time can be a bit of a headache if you aren’t sure if your new purchases are still going to be on-trend in January. However, at Yours Clothing, we’re already ahead of you and ready to advise you what you should be looking for style-wise in items of clothing you purchase from us so that they’ll remain fashionable right up until spring!

Colours: Autumnal shades have stayed faithful to fashion-lovers since September, so if you love deep purples, blues and berry red/pink colours, now is the time to get your hands on clothes utilising these colours. Choose a plain block-coloured top in any of these shades and accessorise with statement jewellery and a warm and comfy bit of knit wear. The great thing is that outfits like this can be dressed up for work with black trousers and smart heels for work and dressed down with jeans and pumps for an evening at the cinema with friends. These shades should last you well up until spring so don’t hesitate, buy your favourite items and get lots of wear out of them before the warmer weather returns.

Prints: Sequins and sparkles are all the rage this winter but if you don’t think spangles are for you, there are other ways to stand out. Flirty, feminine and fun, this empire line floral tunic is just the item for girls who want to look like they haven’t tried at all to look amazing. The nights are drawing in and it is now dark when I leave work. Boo hiss! Come back summer, we miss you! The weather is somewhat chilly and we all need to start moving into our winter wardrobes because some days, it is just too cold to get away with light jumpers.

Luckily for us ladies who feel the cold, knitwear is back in this season with a bang. The purpose of knitwear in fashion this season is to be distinctive so don’t be afraid of ponchos or short-sleeved cardigans, embrace them! Get warm and layer up to create your own distinctive look. My favourite cardigan in our range is this long pink cardi. For Autumn/Winter 2009, textures are really important if you want to keep your outfit stylish and up to date. You could opt for jacquard fabrics, embroidery, or the hottest trend of this season – sequins.

Sequins add seasonal glamour to your outfit and they are everywhere at the moment. Not only will you find tops and dresses covered in sequins, but also handbags and even jackets have been given a touch of sparkle.

Are you fed up of unwanted Christmas and Birthday presents?

Your favourite plus sized website has the solution, the Yours Clothing wish list.
Whether you are making a list for that special occasion or waiting for Payday and fancy a little window shopping. The wish list means you can save what you are looking for and tell everyone else about it.

The wish list has a number of options that lets you tell everyone exactly what you want.

• Email the wish list as an attachment by adding your friends and families email addresses
• Let friends and families know the wishlist number
• Print off your wish list and send it by post.

The wish list is easy to use but if you are stuck here’s a little help.

1. Find a product you like, pick your size
2. Click on add to wishlist
3. Login into your account and view the wishlist by clicking the ‘View Wishlist’ link.
4. All the products you have added can be seen here. You can change the quantites if you want more than one of any item.
5. To email the wishlist to your friends click on the ‘Email to a friend’ button.
6. Enter the name and email of each friend and click ‘Add’ to add them. Repeat until you have all the friends added.
7. Write a personal message to your friends in the box provided.
8. Click the ‘Send Wishlist’ button to send the wishlist.
9. If you want to print your wishlist you will need Adobe reader installed, you can download it free here.

We’ve just launched our wish lists!

This brand new development allows you to select all your favourite Yours Clothing items and send them to all your friends and family, a great idea as Christmas is just around the corner.

You can e-mail your wish list and you can even print if off and send it in the post, don’t forget we also take orders over the phone by calling 08448 204 204.

Last week our products went live on Amazon so now even more people can see the great deals and fashion we have on offer at Yours.

As the party season is now upon us, we’ve now added Party Time to our range of options. Take a look at the Party Time Collection to find a great choice of party wear so you can look your best this party season.

With winter approaching, it is tempting to let the short days and dark nights get us down, but here at the Yours office we know that the approaching season only means one thing; party time! What better way to prepare for the coming festivities than treating ourselves to a glitzy new outfit from the recently launched Limited Collection from Yours Clothing. 80's Fashion Back with a Plus-Size Bang!

The 1980s was a decade full of change. From politics to music there were dramatic shifts in the trends and lifestyles of people worldwide. As the world entered a new era, fashion inevitably followed. While there seems to be a tendency for some to look back on this decade with a ‘what-was-I-thinking’ attitude, the basis for many 80’s fashion trends were dramatic, edgy and super-stylish! At last this decade is getting the recognition it deserves in the fashion stakes. At Yours, we have embraced this hot spring trend to create a flattering, striking and wearable collection so that us curvy girls can enjoy a touch of 80’s nostalgia!

Perhaps the most influential aspect of this particular trend is the use of colour. Bright, bold tones are used for colour blocking, stripes and geometric prints. Key colours for this look are cobalt blue, hot pink and acid brights with grey or black hues for the base. For fuller-figured women, these over-sized shapes and large blocks of colour create clean, flattering lines and can draw attention away from troublesome areas. This eye-catching 80's top (right) offers a great combination of colour-blocking, simple liens and comfort, all key features of the trend. If you are cautious with colour and prefer to stick to muted shades, it is still possible to add a touch of 80’s glamour with a hot pink streak or coloured leggings!

As well as colour, shape is a crucial element of the 80’s look. Oversized tops teamed with leggings or straight leg jeans are a perfect way to embrace the trend while still skimming your curves and keeping you comfortable. Shapes and detailing around the shoulders and arms play a major part in the 80’s styling. Batwing tops have made a massive comeback with sleeves becoming fuller and more of a feature. Similarly, slits on sleeves are regularly used to keep the shape authentic to the 80s and to flatter the arm at its most shapely part. This gorgeous top (left) with a batwing and slit in the sleeve is the perfect example – and it incorporates the hot pink and black elements of 80’s chic!

There are of course features of the 80s that none of us want to repeat – hair crimping and shoulder pads are thankfully constrained to fashion show catwalks. This season’s look is about incorporating 80’s fashion concepts with a modern, fresh feel. For those of you who would rather remember idols of the 80s rather than the fashions; try an iconic T-shirt such as these Blondie, Rolling Stones and Betty Boop tees for an instant nod towards the hottest decade to make a come-back in years!

Well I’m pleased to be the bearer of good news…at last things seem to be cheering up – not the climate quite yet but certainly the fashion world is in full bloom. Spring is Coming...Plus Size Style Tips to Get you Ready!

Although it’s hard to believe at the moment as we look out of the window onto a miserable, cold, rainy scene but spring really is on its way! This always comes as a welcome arrival and as the sun begins to reappear our attention turns to the most enjoyable part of a change in season: A wardrobe update! I’m very pleased to tell you that this spring there are some gorgeous fashions emerging and, for the plus size clothes market, close attention to pattern and shape means that we can all feel feminine, confident and ready to fully embrace the season. Here at Yours Clothing we are particularly excited about our coming collections, the most fashion inspired and best value to date!

3. Choose your style – There are some key trends which we will all be wearing this spring/summer and over the next few weeks I will be introducing you to them with some great tips on how to get the most out of the look. For the time being however, try and think about the look/style you would like to try out in the coming months. What is your wardrobe most lacking? Are you keen to progress at work and need to dress accordingly? Or, are you keen to try a completely new trend?! It’s important to have an idea of the look you are you looking for before the spring styles tempt you to buy anything too rashly.
