All Things Autumn…

08/08/2014

back to blog

Morning Ladies, its Kayleigh the stylist here!

I have been a bit off the radar with blogging recently- mainly down to a very busy month including a huge office and warehouse move which meant we had a brand new studio to prepare and an old studio to pack up and move over! But now we are settled in and shooting in our new studio- which is lovely!!

So Autumn is just around the corner now, shortly the evenings will get darker and we will all begin to layer up again- even if it doesn’t feel like that just yet with the hot few weeks we’ve just had! I know most people get a bit sad about the autumn coming and the dark night’s drawing in, but personally it’s my favourite season! I say embrace it, as Autumn/winter is always such an exciting time for the fashion industry with cute colour combos, layering, beautiful knitwear etc! I am certainly ready for the cooler days now, and can’t wait to get my boots out again!

Here in the office we have been shooting the autumn winter window graphics so are in full on autumn mode now. It was a few weeks ago now just before the move and we had decided on a rather ambitious set up for the size of our little studio. We had two models in, including the face of Yours Clothing Fiona Falkiner, both getting glammed up having their hair and makeup done by our hair and makeup guys. Window shoots are always busy with lots of people running around setting up, they can become quite stressful but are always worth it for the final outcome!!

This autumn we decided to focus on the two main trends making one obviously casual and one obviously formal. Tying them both together with the same type of set up with boards of block colour in the background creating something the models could engage with and also abstract lines of colour relating to the trends and forming check like grids in the background- a huge print story this season that appears in both casual and formal trends tying everything together!

Our casual trend was based on a traveller look, more nostalgic like clothing with lots of layering, lovely bold tartan checked shirts and scarves, thick wooly duffle coats, chunky knits and hunter style boots. It’s all about the outdoors, reminding me of wrapping up and going on walks on a Sunday afternoon after the family roast! The colours consisted of blood reds, true navy’s, khakis and creams a beautiful autumnal palette!

Our formal trend was called Mulberry which was more about the print stories such as strong William Morris style florals, soft linear checks, and the beautiful red/purple tones mixed with greys and nudes gave it a softer twist on autumn winter than we are used to seeing. It had more ornate embellishments on sheer tops, and lots of PU panelling on leggings and jeans, pretty floral dresses and lots of statement jewellery with opulent coloured jewels.

I love all the textures, colours and prints due in this autumn so watch our new in page as from now on you should begin to see the above colours and prints arrive online. I don’t know about you but I can’t wait to get my knitwear on and have already started stocking up on winter jumpers!! It’s never too early to buy if you see something you love! Watch this space as we will be shooting our Christmas shoot in the next few weeks in our BRAND NEW studio!
