The great outdoors

Hi Ladies, It’s the Yours Clothing Stylist here,

This week the weather has suddenly turned, it’s been so cold; we’ve even had to de-ice the car before work. November has hit and that lovely warm October is a distant memory. In light of this bitter cold weather and an increasing gas bill means only one thing for my wardrobe- true winter knits and coats! There’s one trend on the Yours Clothing website that sums up winter in one for me- The Great Outdoors!!

I love this time of year, the dark cosy nights, bright sun shining on a fresh cold morning, walks on a Sunday afternoon, rainy days curled up watching films under a blanket. I love the build up until Christmas. This week warm cosy clothes are especially needed as we all venture outside in the cold to watch fireworks for bonfire night. I went to one show last weekend and have another one planned for this weekend. I had my big thick coat, scarf, hat and gloves on and certainly needed them. All these things are what makes the great outdoors such an important and nostalgic trend. It’s about layering knits with coats, it’s that traditional countryside look with long hunter boots, it’s duffle coats and parkas, tartan patterns and quilting detail. This trend is both about fashion and practicality and there is something for everyone. And its certainly not short of some beautiful outdoor clothing for you all.

For you more practical minded ladies there are some fleecy pieces that are perfect for country walks, walking the dog etc. They look lovely teamed with a pair of comfy jeans, long hunter style boots and a long sleeve basic t-shirt. They are great for winter gardening and also keeping you warm around the house. A perfect practical coat option would be this dark purple quilted puffa coat which will keep you warm and dry on those rainy days. The hood is ideal for walking as you won’t have to battle with an umbrella in the wind.

Fashion and trend wise there are loads of options. Personally I love this red and purple open knit jumper. It’s a great layering piece and because it’s an open knit will be great for layering over a basic tee- this gives you options if you get too hot. Wear over this lovely khaki jacket with a fur trimmed hood for a cool layered look. The colours really compliment each other and give off those natural warm autumnal tones that we all love this time of year. I also absolutely adore fair isle and aztec pattern knits- a statement knit is a must for everyone’s wardrobe this season. Cardigans are really great layering pieces, adding texture and depth to your outfit. Layering with scarfs will also add this to your outfit. Don’t forget your fur trimmed products and accessories. We have some really cute scarfs and warm head fur headbands that would look really cute and finish a great outdoors outfit beautifully!
