It has never been cooler to be British than in 2012 - the year we celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympic Games being held in London.
Everywhere you look people are celebrating being British – and nowhere more so than on the high street, where red, white and blue dominates.
Fashion is flying the British flag with Union Jack motifs being found on everything from bras and pants to t-shirts and jumpers.

We love to hear from all of you, when we were sent this blog from Zoe we just thought we had to share it!
I am not a small girl and I often find it hard to find bigger clothes in high street shops. Some shops sell up to a size 18, and that’s fine for me being a size 16/18 but for other bigger women it’s still a problem. The one thing that really does bug me is shops that do have a range for plus size women but all of the clothes they sell are horrible baggy, badly fitted items. Massive plain t-shirts, straight leg jeans, dresses with no shape to them!  Just because a women is considered “plus size” doesn’t mean she wants to wear horrible plain unflattering clothing! Every women has a different body shape and certain styles suit different women. Just like smaller people, us size 16 plus girls need well fitted clothes too! High street plus size clothes just don’t seem to have a wide enough range (no pun intended!).


A couple of years ago I was looking for a dress to wear for my cousin’s wedding and I came across the yours clothing website. Instead of finding the usual boring range of plus size dresses I found they had all sorts of different styles that actually suited me, and emphasised my curves, whilst hiding the bits I’d prefer to hide. “Hooray!” I thought “Finally there is a company who provides gorgeous clothes for size 16 plus!”  I love Yours because they are stylish, you can still look fashionable despite not being a size 8. They also have clothes for everyone from 18 to 80, there is something to suit every taste. They ignore the assumption that a plus size women cannot look good. Whatever shape you are there is something to suit you. So if you are worried about your bum looking “big in this” , or your tummy sticking out to much, there is something there that will hide the parts you hate and flaunt the parts you love! Or if you want to go out and wear a pair of skinny jeans you can! Instead of hiding behind a baggy black t-shirts you can look amazing and be proud of who you are. She hated her big bust and was teased relentlessly as a teenager.
In her 20s she was so self-conscious of her shape, she wore shapeless, baggy clothes to hide her figure.
But just over a year ago, Lizzie hit 30 and decided enough was enough; now was the time to embrace her curves, so she entered a competition to find a new plus-size lingerie model.
To her amazement, Lizzie beat 400 other hopefuls, receiving 64,000 votes, and was named plus size model of the year at the 100 per cent people plus size awards. She has been parading her size 14 body, and 32H cup bust, down the catwalk ever since.
“I was shocked, but obviously delighted to win,” she said.  “I entered the competition on a whim. It was a turning 30 crazy act. I just thought ‘what the heck, I’ll go for it'. It’s been great.
“To begin with it was really surreal: standing in my pants was not something I thought I would ever do.
“The level of acceptance I have, comes with age. I have had a massive turn around and feel good about myself now.
“I hate the fact that the world we live in sees size 0 as aspirational. It is not. The average woman in the UK is a size 16.”
Lizzie who comes from Rutland is a huge fan of Yours Clothing, saying: “It is great to see a business dedicating itself to providing women with curves fashionable and affordable clothes.

Before I get into the nitty gritty of this blog post, I must plead with you to vote, vote, VOTE as it's the final day of 100% People's Plus Size Awards. We really want to win Best Independent - it would really make our Christmas!

Earlier this week I headed down to my local Yours store with a view to trying on some items that are popular among you. As I'm a 5'1", size 20-22 pear shape, I thought it'd be good for those with similar bodies to see what the clothes look like on someone who isn't model standard! Here are the photos and my thoughts...


First item I tried was this Leopard Print 2in1 Belted Dress in a size 22. A small word of warning, the top part is see-through so you may need a vest to hand! But it's beautiful and from the front does give me a bit of a waist! However, as you can probably see, the bodycon skirt shows the outline of my belly, which is a dealbreaker for a lot of plus size women. I would definitely recommend this for hourglass or busty shapes to really emphasise those womanly curves of yours!


Next up was the Winter Ditsy Tunic, in a size 20. This fit absolutely perfectly - the empire line waist means it works well on my pear shape, flowing over my belly and hips. I would also recommend it for apple shapes. The material is cotton, so I would pair it with thick tights or leggings, boots and a warm cardi for winter.


I tried this Black, Grey & Red Floral Tunic in a size 22-24, though I could easily have gone down a size. These styles are so popular with you guys, and it's easy to see why. They're so comfortable and roomy, just an absolute joy to wear, no matter your shape. The scarf is detached so you can add it to any outfit, too!


Finally, and my favourite of the bunch, is the Spotty Gaga Sleeve Dress in a size 20. If you're looking to emphasise or create curves in places you didn't know you had them, this is absolutely the dress for you! On my pear shape I felt sexy and curvy in a way I don't normally. Absolutely perfect!

I have some very exciting news to share with you this week.

Yours Clothing has teamed up with top celebrity stylist Nicky Hambleton-Jones to offer one lucky customer the chance to win a makeover and £500 worth of clothes.

Nicky, famous for presenting the Channel 4 programme 10 Years' Younger has transformed hundreds of women over the years, helping them wear clothes which flatter their shape and stay a style queen whatever their age.

To be in with a chance of winning this fantastic competition, all you need to do is click on the competition panel on the homepage, fill out the details and click the ENTER NOW button at the bottom.

And as if this wasn't enough, everyone that enters will be sent a voucher giving them £10 off their next spend of £50 or more.

Can you believe it's December already?! Have you got your Christmas decorations up yet?

Before I talk about my favourite item this week, I really want us to have a weekend push to get back in front of both our categories in the 100 Percent People awards! Please vote for us as often as you can in Best Retailer and Best Independent Retailer as we really, really, really want to WIN!

You all know that Yours Clothing, unlike most plus size retailers, pulls absolutely no punches when it comes to bringing our customers versions of the latest and most current fashion around. So no sooner had (a rather cross-eyed) Jessie J strutted her star printed tights on the stage, than our very own plus size version appeared! Check it out:

Well November is drawing to a close, and we're getting ready for Christmas, but first I have to share with you Yours' stunning plus size customers and bloggers wearing our items!


Our red and black dress has proved popular, with Miria and Nadia both rocking it! Miria has also teamed the dress with our studded belt and studded tights. Amazing!


Here is the beautifully named Jascent wearing one of our summer maxis - how fabulous? Alongside blogger Joanna, who wears our summer cropped denim jacket perfectly.


Karina looks fashionably casual in our Minnie Mouse t-shirt, and the lovely Lesley looking absolutely FABULOUS in our elegant purple jeweled maxi dress, that's still available in some sizes! 


Looking beautifully feminine and elegant is Lynne and Megan, featuring a tribal patterned skirt available from last year, and this summer's rose pink floral maxi - still available in sizes 18 and 24, at a reduced price of £19.


Miria and Nadia return! Nadia on the right wears one of our popular, colourful tunics from earlier this year, and Miria looks hot to trot in her military jacket!


Australia blogger Natalie shows off her laid back summer style with the help of our crochet top - and how cute is her dog, Miffy? As well as that, the lovely Odelia looks wonderful in our purple floral maxi and matching shrug.


Rachel looks like a curvy superstar in our animal print chiffon maxi, doesn't she? Good work, girl! And Sam from Lips, Hips and Fatshion Tips always dresses up a treat - her Yours faux leather bomber from last winter is perfect for her autumn kitsch outfit.
