At Yours, you’ll find some new fun prints that are featured in our newest collections. From fun palm leaves to unique abstract prints, our in-house print design team hand-draws these prints across the departments. From the first sketch to the final fabric, they have been busy creating bold, beautiful prints made to celebrate you.
Keep reading to find out the process behind the prints in this new collection from Stacie (Lead Print Designer), Kate (Print Designer), and Emily (Print Design Admin Assistant), who give us extra insight on their inspiration behind their creations and a sneak peek into new and upcoming prints for the brand.
What’s the process behind creating a new print for Yours?
“I am constantly gathering and researching fashion trends, always keeping an eye on what’s hot and upcoming. For the main seasons, I collaborate with our trend forecaster to create several inspiring mood boards that showcase the upcoming print trends.
These mood boards are then used by buyers to brief me directly or to find more prints for their departments.
Once we receive print briefs from the buyers, we dive into a bit of research before starting each print. Whether we’re hand-drawing or digitally creating the elements, we ensure every detail is perfect.
Finally, we use specialized software to design and prepare the print for factory production.” – Stacie
What was the inspiration behind any of the prints?
“I was really inspired by big graphic retro wallpapers that create this bold architectural statement – combined with the natural aspect of the leaves, it creates a simple yet impactful effect.” – Kate
“The inspiration behind this print came from the shadows of soft palm leaves.”
“This was my first print, which was taken abroad to shoot, which is really exciting! I loved seeing all the shots on the web.” – Emily
“My inspo behind the rust palm print came from looking at vintage botanical palm illustrations and symmetrical palms in furnishing fabrics and wallpapers.” – Stacie
“For the black and white animal print, I wanted to combine cow and leopard together as these have been the biggest trending animal prints.” – Stacie
What is your favourite print from the latest collection?
“We love all of them! We think they all work really well together and have really elevated the collection.”
Can you give us a sneak peek of any upcoming prints for the summer?
“I have worked on a lot of conversational prints for this S/S, beachy postcard prints, and some really fun t-shirt graphics, and can’t wait to see them come out.” – Stacie
“I’ve worked on some beautiful watercolour romantic florals for this summer, which I’m really excited to see.” – Kate
“I have recently worked on the graphics for an upcoming activewear collection. Designing these were really fun as I researched and took inspiration from new athleisure trends.” – Emily
