This week on our Friday Fashion Blogger Takeover, I spoke with Hollie Burgess aka Pretty Big Butterflies! Hollie is a blogger and social media executive based in London. In January she became mummy to the gorgeous Baby C so not only providing fashion tips she also gives out parenting advice! We love Hollie and we have no doubt that you will all love her too!
How long have you been blogging?
Almost 4 years
Who’s your main inspiration?
I don’t really have a main inspiration. The whole plus size blogging movement is pretty inspirational.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
My dream holiday is an epic trip to Barbados. We were supposed to go last year but the Zika virus stopped us! The Northern Lights are definitely at the top of my bucket list too.
What do you enjoy most about being a blogger?
Going to events is always a privilege and being able to give feedback to brands. I also totally appreciate the comments, emails and direct messages I get from people. It’s lovely when someone has something positive to say!
Do you face any challenges with being a plus size blogger, if so how do you overcome them?
Some people seem to think that being plus size and confident is almost a bad thing. Like, how dare I be fat and happy! The negative comments you sometimes get from strangers online can be a bit of a blow. Even more so when they are from other women! But at the end of they day, they don’t matter and usually have their own issues. The positive always overcomes the negative.
What advice would you give to someone who’s just starting out as a plus size blogger?
Always remember why you started. Everyone has a different reason and it’s OK to just do you. Some people do it as a hobby, others do it full time. Whatever you do, jut remember to enjoy it and don’t feel boxed in.
What do you love most about your body?
The fact I made a baby is pretty epic.
Do you blog full time or just as a hobby?
I blog as a hobby but it’s helped me with some career goals over the last couple of years and recently it’s really helped me find some direction in what I want to do in the future.
