How long have you been blogging?
I’ve been blogging for four years on Mookieslife, but I was blogging on another blog before that I started in 2008.
Who’s your main inspiration?
In fashion I don’t really have anyone in particular that influence my style, but I love Gwen Stefani. I really like her style, it’s edgy and yet very classy and elegant.. In life in general my grandmother is my inspiration.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I love travelling and are an adventurer at heart. I’ve been to 31 countries so far. But my dream destination would be Fiji.
What do you enjoy most about being a blogger?
When a reader is writing to me telling me how much it meant to her that she read my blog post or Instagram photo seeing me in something that she never dared to wear. It always makes me feel so happy.
Do you face any challenges with being a plus size blogger, if so how do you overcome them?
Since I’m at the higher end of the spectrum of the size scale, on my top half, and can’t always pick and choose in brands that goes up to size 24 I have to compromise with fabrics that are stretchy and with a lot of give in them. And this is where we need to get fashion brands to see that there need more development. They need to give people over size 24 the same opportunity to buy clothes as the smaller sizes. So in some cases I have to stay away from buying at some brands or only look for things like jersey or other stretchy materials which is a shame.
What advice would you give to someone who’s just starting out as a plus size blogger?
It’s not as easy as it might seem. It’s a lot of fun, but you have to put a lot of yourself into it to make it work. Find your style and have fun with it. Be yourself and give it a go.
What do you love most about your body?
I love everything about my body. It’s been through so much and carries me through life. I’ve given birth which was not as straightforward as you wish, but in the end it went well, I’ve been through several operations and although I’m fighting with a lot of health issues at the moment it’s amazing to see how my body and brain are working so very hard!!
Do you blog full time or just as a hobby?
It’s a hobby.
