Hi Ladies, It’s Kayleigh the Yours Clothing Stylist.
This week has been an odd week for weather, I haven’t had a clue what to wear as each morning I’m cold but by the time I get to work I’m far too hot!! I can feel my wardrobe edging to leggings and cardies already and we’re only in mid-August. With the weather looking dull outside and deliveries in the office becoming more and more autumn/winter focused I noticed just how much black and white we have in stock. Monochrome is a trustworthy classic trend which never dates and always appears on the catwalks and on the high-street each year. We are no exception and always ensure we have an extensive range of black and white beauties for you all.
Last week three striking skater dresses arrived on my desk, ready for our weekly web shoot with Fiona and all three of them were clearly made for the black and white retro monochrome trend, and were a cool twist on the timeless LBD. I felt like I was looking at a mini collection that just walked out of the ‘60s, and I instantly thought of the style icon Twiggy. They were all different but worked so well together, the stripes whether horizontal or asymmetric only add to the look and the shapes so flattering for every girls figure. Feeling excited that we had a mini collection that we wanted to do it justice myself and Laura (our photographer) decided it would be a perfect excuse to show off our new photography studio!
Our old studio was smaller and darker than our lovely new light studio. We had a colorama in a small boxy space where as now we have a spacious bright white curve with a straight corner at the side for more inspirational shoots. Both excited to use this new area we decided to take half an hour at the end of our web shoot and do something a little more edgy than usual. Fiona swept her hair right across and put on some brighter lippy, Laura positioned the lighting into place and I styled the dresses into a ‘less is more’ fashion- I wanted these retro wonders to do the talking themselves. It’s amazing what a difference it’s made and we were all pleased with the outcome. The shots looked sophisticated, and the sharp edges of the studio setup against the slender curves of the skater dresses worked flawlessly together.
Monochrome as usual is set to be a big trend- and let’s face it you can’t go wrong when it comes to mono. Our trend is growing by the day already, with stripes and polka dots, skater dresses and kimonos all adding a touch of excitement to this trend. Whether you choose to wear head to toe mono or add a bold accent colour, you will look great! Take a look at the monochrome collection now ladies! I hope you feel as excited as we did by the collection.
